It is your responsibility to drive projects forward, mentor junior team members, ensure alignment with the company’s overall architectural direction, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. By delivering innovative and reliable software, you will contribute to the success of our organization and make a meaningful impact to thousands of customers and millions of users. What you’ll do ● Lead and develop high-quality working software, with a solid design and architecture that is consistent with our overall company-wide approach ● Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members ● Partner with Architecture and Engineering Director to design and implement solutions that align with the technology organization’s Technology Vision, Strategy, Standards, and Best Practices. Represent architecture on the delivery team. ● Work closely with the SRE Team to provision, deploy and maintain the underlying infrastructure through the use of IaaC managed by Terraform using GitLab pipelines ● Partner with the Delivery Manager to lead data-driven process improvements related to the DORA metrics, overall efficiency, and health of the system(s) that the team supports ● Identify, prioritize and breakdown work in the software development life cycle in partnership with the Delivery Manager and Product Owner. ● Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code ● Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting ● Proactively identify and act on opportunities for continuous improvement of software and processes ● Oversee validation strategies and verification testing of changes ● Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products ● Ensure software complies with SLAs and compliance requirements ● Ensure that there is adequate technical documentation for new and changed features ● Ensure software is up-to-date with latest technologies ● Constantly looking to identify impediments early, actively working to resolve those impediments, and escalates when needed ● Represent good, better, best options when discussing scope of work, timelines, and priorities with Delivery Manager, Product Owner and other stakeholders. Actively participate in building level of effort estimates so work can be planned and prioritized appropriately. Experience you’ll need ● Proven depth and expertise as a Senior Software Engineer or higher ● Extensive experience in software development, scripting and agile methodologies ● Experience using system monitoring tools and automated testing frameworks ● Highly skilled knowledge of selected programming languages (e.g. Ruby, Python, React) ● In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB) ● Familiarity with AWS and cloud native offerings ● Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude ● Ability to work independently ● Ability to work cross-functionally with leaders in Architecture, QA, SRE, Product, Creative, etc… ● Excellent organizational and leadership
