Hello, There are many different methods for wideband DOA estimation. Speech (sound) is a wideband signal therefore you have to use wideband (broadband) DOA methods (versus narrowband DOAs). You can use a simple Delay and sum beamformer, Frost beamformer or more sophisticated methods in frequency domain like TOPS. Cross correlation is also a simple time-domain method. Anyway, I am expert in array signal processing and can help you with your project. I will use Matlab for my simulations. My price and timing are only approximate here and will depend on the actual amount of work. Thanks.

I have worked on similar problems for a long time. This is very easy to do using cross correlation as you said. But if you are interested in more advanced techniques such as Finite Impulse Response Least Means Squares, let me know. My suggestion of using FIR LMS is more useful for real-time DoA estimation. What type of signals do your sources generate? I can deliver initial results the first day. On the second day, we will discuss the results and see if modifications are necessary.
