Virtuemart adaption
Currently the order system works in that the customer logs in and records his location, choosing his delivery area via a dropdown box list of postcode areas that we deliver to.
If they are outside these areas’s they just don’t have an option.
We are expanding the services of the site to include other resellers in other areas which will involve them having their own shops but covering different areas and supplying different versions of the products.
We need to develop or adapt the existing virtuemart process so that if someone from Newcastle orders the goods the delivery area triggers a response.
That response is :
User is in Newcastle – switch to that to the correct site and copy the order and account detail to that site.
Where there are different products, the user is then offered the alternatives before order completion.
1. User – goes to site
2. Places order there because he is an idiot and does not see delivery area options or ignores information given and delivery calculators
3. On entering the delivery address and pressing continue the system needs to check delivery area is valid, once validation is complete the system then needs to select continue with order process or switch to delivery area site i.e. [login to view URL] or say ‘We don’t deliver to your area’
4. Once switched to new site – user data must be transferred
Expansion on this process can happen later.
At this time there are two stores – South East and East Anglia
There is considerable interest from others so this will have to be applied again and again.
I am looking to upgrade the site to Vmart 1.1 in the future, it may be a better idea to develop it now into vmart1.1 and switch over.
In addition to create a shop entry page – so that as you access the site you choose your local shop/site.
