A reminiscent of a cut-scene from a once popular SNES game named Chrono Trigger. The heroes of the future, past and present all gather in a place once thought to be unreachable named Death Peak. It is a place atop a mountain in a post-apocalyptic future where our heroes went to revive the main protagonist of the story-line; Crono, a simple minded swordsman from the present. Falling into a disturbed time-space rip in time with his companions, they were forced to face the most powerful parasitic being of all time (literally) named Lavos. Untrained and unaware of how to defeat the behemoth, one by one they were picked off until Crono took it upon himself to save a princess from the past, who was also sucked into the rip, from the powerful beam from the being. In turn, he had ultimately struck by the beam and died.
The piece is a perler design about the size of 2 ft in height and 1ft in width of the iconic hero Crono and Marle at the base of a tree. The team regrouped after his death and taken a "time-egg" from the Guru of Time (a professor/scientist of sorts from the highly technological and magical civilization from the past who disguised himself as the Old Man at the End of Time). Placing the egg atop Death Peak after a series of events, resulted in another rip in time which took them to a freeze frame moment of when Crono was about to face his death before the powerful beam from Lavos. Crono slowly descending before the tree, Marle embraces him once he touched down, telling him to never leave her again.
I like this moment not only because it represented the story itself but also showed how powerful of a presence Crono had on his companions and the importance of his presence in every time period including his own. Although not shown in the series, the unspeakable bond between him and Marle (aka Princess Nadia) which they never wanted to admit but through time and experience found a way to show each other, in this case, after his death.
