Probably the best way to protect your application is by offering it as a web site (Software as a Service), this way the files are not distributed instead, they are stored in a secured server. Of course this solution is more expensive than creating a standalone application. There are several tools (some free) that can be used to obfuscate the code and making it harder to crackers to get the info inside the application. I have converted other applications from Excel to C#, but in this case C++ can be used. This budget can be adjusted depending on the size of the application
