Here is my initial proposal to have a best security policy. 1. Compliance 2. Demonstrating adherence to and respect for relevant laws and regulations 3. Disciplinary Actions 4. Awareness and educational tool for top management 5. To bring out of control IT Dept and Employee back in line 6. Raise the bar of knowledge 7. Drive funding 8. Prevent breaches 9. Management Commitments A simple explanation on how can I manage the policy is that, instead of delivering a report with finger pointing, I usually prefer to deliver a few policies of how things should be augmented by an action plan/improvement plan/roadmap that leads towards the policy-dictated better place. Here are the backup solution that I can suggest: 1. Compression backup 2. Virtualization backup 3. Deduplication backup 4. Distributed backup 6. Incremental backup 7. Off-site backup Tools are depends on what backup solution you want, there are to many tools and as well as a own built script that can manage this backup.
