The short story is written in first person narrator.
What is going to happen:
The protagonist walks into the classroom and sees the girl he is in love with (description of the theme, setting and the characters happens here)
The protagonist' good friend Richard is a good friend of the girl he is in love with. As he sits down, the girl walks to where he sits and kisses him on the lips (would usually be a handshake or kiss on the cheeks, but because she is a good friend of Richard, she kisses him on the lips)
The protagonist understands this totally differently. He does not know the French culture, because he is from USA. He understands the kiss as a way of the girl showing her love for him.
He gets very happy, but then he realizes that a lot of his classmates are doing the same, and he realizes that it is a way of saying hello in the french culture.
He is sad and disappointed now, but then something happens. The table he went to at the beginning of the class, which he always goes to, had a lot of papers on it. He was mad because of this, but after the class was finished, the girl went out of the classroom and gave the boy her beautiful smile. He then looked down at his table and found a note where she explains that she has feeling for him etc. He realizes that the pencil that was used to write the note is the same color as the girl always used in the class.
Finito.
Hello. I like the story's idea and feel intrigued to write it. Briefly, I'm a writer based in the UK, with experience in short stories, some of which have won 1st place in literary competitions. I just finished a project here on Freelancer, a short story for $166, and my employer commented it was better than expected (on my profile). If you're interested, I'd be happy to hear from you. All best.
