Middle Man Proxy on Apache Hosting: I am looking into your Simple Proxy server script..... This is what I need to do..... I am working with an Insurance company that can provide insurance premiums via a web service. Simple XML Restful, protocols, with Encrypted Authentication. port 443 To use this Web service, the calling request has to have a Whitelisted IP address. The problem is that we have a .net and VB6 application running on about 250 different PCs. They cannot Whitelist all these IP addresses. So I asked the insurance to simply Whitelist only one IP address on my server. What I would like to do is have these 250 clients send/make a request to my server then My server would send the request to the insurance company, then they would send the response back to my server and then finally back to the user that made the request. Sort of a Man in the Middle situation, that will simply send exactly what I need, and then respond back exactly what the End server returns. These web service calls have to be made from my desktop application. Have I made my situation clear enough? Can a Simple PHP Proxy server script do this? I am hosting on a Linux/Apache server. I am guessing you can use CGI or PHP or anything that gets the job done. Summary: One of 250 clients (CLIENT A) sends a encrypted username and password call requesting info to My server (CLIENT B), my server then takes that call and sends it to the insurance company server (CLIENT C) then the data is prepared and sent back to (CLIENT B) then sent back to (CLIENT A)

I can also configure a SSL certificate to encrypt the traffic between the client machines and your proxy server. I can do this job in 2 days (12 hours) if awarded. Hello I can help you to create the necessary scripting to have your server (CLIENT B) receive the requests, forward the request on to the Insurance company server, then return the reply back to the originating visitor. I will need to know some more details in order to confirm a timeframe and which method would be most suitable, including building a PHP script to act as the reverse proxy, which I believe may be the best (only) method as opposed to using Apache as a reverse proxy, due to SSL certificate authentication issues (once I get a clearer understanding of your network, I can confirm this). Hi, your task can be done in a couple ways depending the VB6 software running on the client machines. If this app can be configured to use a proxy, we could simply deploy a proxy server on your server. If there is no configuration option for proxy server but can be altered the company's connection parameters (hostname, IP and port) so we can configure your server as a gateway. If there is no any way to configure company's connection parameters, we must mimic company's connection address that points your server instead on client machines.
