Image stitching is not a single/one-step process but 3: registration, calibration, blending. You might fail to get seamlessness due to any, any two, or all of the three done incorrectly. I've worked on panoramic stitching for robotics application. RANSAC to Homography etc. REGARDS THIS PROJECT 1) The algo for each are based on application e.g. medical etc. 2) Computing globally consistent set of features for alignment 3) Blending using pyramid, invariant features, motion compensation The seamlessness is the final output.
