Promotion Management App (PHP)

Web based extranet app for Unix platform. User acceptance testing done by a QA professional, so you need to be a great communicator and very, very good at unit testing. :-) Speed not as important as quality! 1) Administrative area to maintain product and promotion info, configure basic options for the application, allow users to run some (simple) reports and provide a process for them to reply to and track requests submitted by sales agents (see below). When product/promotion info changes, app will send an email to all users to notify them. Product/promotion info will be versioned so that the details are available for any point in time. Need to log all changes made by admin so they're presented to users (see below). Also need to be able to enter/edit mass product changes (example: price increase for all products in a specific category). 2) Sales agents / Users: app will allow users to login to retrieve marketing materials such as promotional sheets and price lists. These will be dynamically created in PDF format (based on info in the database) and available for download individually and as a zipped set of files. When users login, they'll see a list of what's changed since last login, as links to the PDF(s) that were affected. App also involves a multi-step negotiation/approval process for sales agents to submit requests for customer-specific promotions (versus "base" or generic promotions) and to save that info in the database for later retrieval. Users will also maintain basic contact info for themselves and for their end customer (e.g., retail stores). Coder must have advanced to expert level technical skills in PHP and mySQL, good aesthetic/design sense, and excellent written communication skills! Please note: final selection of coder to take place in June; coding will start in late June or early July. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working application as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Based on estimated project launch of July 2003, the application must be completed and ready for user acceptance testing by September 15th, 2003. The application must be installed and ready to run by September 30th, 2003. Note: buyer will adjust deadline accordingly if the project begins later than July 2003. 2) Coder will provide installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. Detailed instructions on setup and configuration also required. 3) Coder will provide a notarized letter stating that coder agrees that complete ownership and distribution copyrights belong solely to the buyer. 4) Detailed functional requirements and data model will be provided, but developer must write a technical spec before any coding begins (but after the bid is accepted, of course). Developer will create technical spec in a template that will be provided by the buyer. Buyer will review and approve the technical spec before coding begins. The buyer's review will be done on the basis of completeness (not technical details) and to ensure that the requirements are understood before coding begins. 5) Sample mockups for the design/look will be provided, but the developer will write the actual HTML. 6) All files created in development of the application(code, instructions, technical spec, configuration files, any image files, etc) will be turned over to the buyer at project completion. 7) Developer will provide weekly status reports to buyer, make weekly backups of the work in progress, and provide a method for the buyer to see and use the application as it progresses. 8) Developer will adhere to commonly accepted standards for coding such as consistent naming conventions, indentation, well-commented code, etc. ## Platform Application and database will reside on Unix box at hosting company. Users will access the app via web browser. Code must be compatible with IE 5.0 (or later) and AOL 6.0.
