Mac OS X installation program for existing software

BarracudaDrive for OS X is an easy to use home server for personal and business use.. One cannot simply copy BarracudaDrive to the application folder since BarracudaDrive is a server. The current BarracudaDrive installation program is a DMG file which contains a command line script that does the actual installation. Your job is to create a real installation program using the Mac OS X Installer. [login to view URL] The BarracudaDrive executable is different for PowerPC and Intel, thus the installation program must be designed to manage this. In addition to creating the installation program, a small GUI program must be designed that installs itself in the System Preferences. The program should show the server status (running/stopped). A button must be provided that allows the user to start/stop the server. The Mac GUI server control program should provide similar functionality to the GUI control program for the Windows version of BarracudaDrive. The current installation script is a Lua script that copies the server and data files to the /Applications/ directory. The Lua script also creates OS X server startup scripts in /Library/StartupItems/, and performs a number of other operations required for operating the server. The scripts installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ can be used for starting and stopping the server. The small GUI program you have to design must interact with the /Library/StartupItems/ script for starting and stopping the server. The GUI program must also be designed such that it can disable the power on server auto start. The easiest way for you to find out the scope of this project is to download the existing OS X installation program and study the Lua installation script that comes with the DMG file. We are computer programmers, but our time is limited. We therefore need someone to help us out. We expect that you as a programmer is capable of designing a high quality installation program and server GUI control program without having to ask us too many questions.
