The Project:
This is a German version of an OSCommerce installation
for a German publishing company but I have left the english
descriptions in the admin section, too. I am absolutely
not familiar with PHP so I'm having several difficulties...
I have bought and installed a template for OSCommerce
and just want it to work correctly and also use some
plugins. I have the following problems with the
configuration:
1.) There is an SSL certificate installed (which is from
our provider) via Fantastico from the Cpanel - it was
asked if I wanted to use SSL which I confirmed.
During checkout a message is displayed that the certificate
needs to be confirmed by clicking "ok" during the checkout/
paying process. This is okay.
But what is not okay is that after clicking on "ok",
there's an error message which says:
https://www.(url).de/[login to view URL]
"not found" and the checkout process is interrupted -
even though the file is there! I also don't understand
why it goes to checkout_shipping instead of something
like https://www.(url).de/[login to view URL]
So your task is to find the problem and make sure that
the checkout process is initiated correctly. It should
go to Paypal for payment (see further below also).
2.) No matter what I do, the shop is always displaying
wrong prices. I have a price of EUR 24,94 for an ebook
download. This is with VAT already included.
But it always adds the VAT on all the pages in the shop
(e.g. "New products"), too. So the value is something like
EUR 25,72. Even if I am using the netto value of EUR 23,30
in the product description, it stays the same. I even
tried setting the VAT to 0 without any success.
The regular VAT value for books is 7% here in Germany.
As an option for the product, I have added a printed
book, too. But both have the wrong prices included.
Your task also is to make sure that the download is
delivered immediately after payment.
3.) I want to give customers a discount coupon. There
is a module available in the contrib section of OSCommerce
which needs to be configured and installed (or you can
write your own if that's better). It requires to have the
credit card class installed - whatever that means (it's
explained in contrib file in the readme text).
The discount coupon module needs to do the following:
A.) Admin can create a discount coupon (either as a fixed
value or a percentage) for a certain product or a complete
category (e.g. golf books), or the whole shop.
B.) Customer gets the coupon code for e.g. EUR 5 discount.
C.) During checkout, customer can enter the code e.g.
"4HR7748HZTT" click a button called "Redeem coupon" or
something like that and EUR 5 (or e.g. 10%) will be subtracted
from the total value.
4.) The payment processor for checkout will be Paypal only
as it has a checkout process which is completely in German.
Of course, the correct values from the shopping cart need
to be transferred to Paypal and then the payment is made
by the customer. For the download, the customer would be
able to download his product immediately after payment. And
in case that the customer chooses a printed version of the
book, he should get a confirmation by email that his book
will be shipped soon or something like that (you could also
configure it that he would be redirected to a page which
tells him that his goods will be shipped).
5.) Some smaller modifications need to be done like the
removal of some text which is displayed on the index page.
And some text snippets are displayed in English where it
needs to be German like "More info" or "Buy now" - you'll
get all the German expressions from me. Where these texts
are on graphics, I will provide you with new graphics.
**************************
You need to make sure that you backup our system so the
installation and the entries won't be destroyed if something
goes wrong.
Do not bid if you are not familiar with OSCommerce. The
modifications, integration of Paypal and plugin installations
require an OSCommerce expert. Concerning the language, this
should not be a problem as the admin interface will be displayed
in English. And also if you encounter any language problems,
I will be available on Messenger so you can ask me.
But you'll also get a link to a great German/English
dictionary.
Once you place your bid, you'll get the link to the website
so you can see what it's looking like. It's a website for a
German publishing company (mainly ebooks but also some printed
versions).
