We are a US company representing a Fortune 10 company and willing to work with English speaking experts worldwide. We have an initial budget of up to ~ $5,000 US - and if this project goes well, a great deal of ongoing work.
We are looking for a Google Maps expert, with experience of server side clustering, who can deliver the following:
1. A Google Map (using the Javascript API) that displays:
a) By default, it is zoomed out to show the whole of North America (US and Canada)
b) At the default zoom, it shows a number of cluster markers. These should represent the most dense areas of markers. (Eg. If there are 100 markers within New York City, then New York City should have a cluster marker shown at the default zoom level)
c) Clicking one of the cluster marker zooms in to a level where you see more cluster markers, or actual markers (depending on the number of markers in the current viewable area).
d) As you zoom in, you see more markers.
e) Clicking on a marker opens a standard Google 'Bubble' window, containing some text and an image from the database.
2) The database currently contains around 1600 individual locations.
3) Because of the expected number of markers in the database, a server side clustering solution is required (the JavaScript clustering solution ClusterMarker is too slow with more than 1000 markers).
4) The server-side clustering solution must run on PHP and be similar in functionality to the ACME labs clusterer, but PHP/PostGRE based.
5) How you implement the marker clustering is up to you - so long as it is fast and scalable.
6) Experience with driving directions formatted like Google.
If you are interested in working with us on this, please can you email me with an idea of when you could start, when you'd be able to complete the work, and how much you would charge.
