I need a convenient way to check when a bunch of websites was last updated... I want to call the function via a) a little javascript bookmarklet that should get the current url and parse the results (that would be a server based solution imho) b) a firefox plugin that should do the same Result should be a list of - domain - creation date of site - really last updated date of the site (according to specs below) - maybe some other info fields for the domain I want all that info cached a mysql table or file, as I might submit pages with the same domain again, but the results won't change very often I am still unsure on ALL the facts that shall be considered in a check like this, but I would expect that at least the following processing must be done - your recommendation and input for additional code is appreciated 1. for all websites on the page 2. extract domain only - save to database 3. get [login to view URL] data for domains, check the first and last change, including significant change 5. get the whois information and change history - check when this was last changed (also [login to view URL] paid history service might get be scraped for that) 6. check for various other indicators of change on the site that we could specifiy later (i.e. text matches in the html code) when done spit out results, make sure everythings saved/stored in the database/file
