1) Unification of VBA source files: - Unifying all commands under a common error handling and logging mechanism - Refactoring and cleaning up how the various blocks of UI code call into central functionality -- there is rather different UI code for Word and PowerPoint, and the 2007 versions are quite different than the pre-2007 versions. - Adjusting installation code for one file instead of two 2) Cleaning up the localization design. Currently, localization of the 2007 UI is handled differently than the pre-2007 versions, and Japanese is different than the other localizations. This should be improved. 3) Removing the limitations of having singleton global styles and other information. Currently, there is a single style that is used throughout a whole document. It matches the ambient style when it is created, but therefore may not match elsewhere. This was a fundamental design choice and is the cause of many issues/bugs, and needs a redesign. 4) Unifying and cleaning up state management. Because our macros cannot hope to safely track all state changes in Word and Powerpoint, our code needs to be stateless, and reassess the current document state at the cursor position as necessary each time it runs. 5) Persisting of document properties in 2007 should move to private properties, instead of the publicly visible ones currently used. 6) Problems with Outline view. Lots of things don't work right in Outline view. 7) We can improve the look of our ribbon tab in Office 2007 by moving to dynamically generated XML and/or dynamically generated images, to match the graphics to the current screen resolution. 8) Conversion to COM interfaces for communicating with our Application from VBA code 9) Additional new development.
