The goal of this project is to restrict internet access for certain enterprise employees (on Macs running OS X 10.3-10.4) who haven't completed certain web-based forms. At the time of the user's login, a predetermined SOAP call will be made to a web service using Applescript/Automater/etc.. Depending on the result, the computer will be restricted to only be able to launch one of a set of predefined applications (including a browser) - either using a helper utility or by autolaunching them itself. The idea is to deprive these users of their normal machine until they finish their paperwork. We expect this would be shell script, Automatorr, Applescript, and/or Applescript Studio app of some sort, possibly utilizing a small Cocoa/Carbon piece, and perhaps a piece of freeware/shareware. Needs to be easily installed, can't botch file permissions too much, can't be easily defeated by clever users, and can't involve spending more than $10 per seat on shareware if that's required.
