Hi guys,
I HAVE REPOSTED THIS PROJECT BECAUSE I AM NOW AWARE OF METHOD I'D LIKE TO FOLLOW
THANK YOU FOR READING
A friend of mine has a small website online. It has about 25 users that subscribe to it and it is live, (so I have to take precautions not to crash it).
The server is Windows Server 2003
It runs Oracle 10g XE, Apache http server
It also uses PL/SQL to write http
I have TWO select queries I have written , one of them outputs about 8 columns of 300 rows.. the other outputs 2 columns of 4 or 5 rows..
THE PROBLEM:
I basically want to get this information from my friend's server to my computer by generating HTML on the server, that my computer can then scrape off the webpage. I think it is too dangerous to use port 1521 and open up Oracle over the internet..
THE SOLUTION:
Write an Oracle procedure.
This procedure calls my two SELECT queries
The Oracle procedure writes to an HTML file eg [login to view URL]
That is a blank page, but data is contained inside comments, (or a tag)
e.g. generated code: [login to view URL] is stored in the relevant Apache folder eg httpdoc etc

NOTE: I have to use [ instead of < because freelancer page messes up otherwise..
i would also like to add some basic security.
QUESTIONS:
1) The data is public information and not particularly sensitive, however if possible it would be nice to make private as possible.
I could name the html file something like '[login to view URL]'
Would this file be publically searchable?
2) Is there a simple way to encrypt this data? Either using Oracle or Apache
3) Or is it easy enough to generate a password for the webpage?
In which case my Python code on client side would need to be able to enter password/decrypt.
MORE DETAILS;
The procedure is to be called from another procedure that is run by the Oracle job scheduler.
I will write the code to scrape the HTML on my computer
I could code the Oracle procedure myself, just I haven't used Oracle for 10 years, so quicker if I can get someone else to write.
AN ISSUE:
My friend has given me access to the server also the Oracle passwords. However I am not 'allowed' to let anyone else have this.
However. Are you able to provide me with the procedure and I will install myself on the system? I may need to ask some beginner questions if I get stuck doing this!
If you needed to work on the system, possibly you could remote log onto my machine, and my machine is remote logged on to his server. I would have to get permission first.
Feel free to ask any questions!
Thank-you for reading!

I have 10 years of real good hands-on with Oracle. See PM for more details how to address your questions wrt security.
P.S. I do not need access to your friends Oracle nor server to implement it.
Here we like to specify our slogan "A Right Place For Pace". we have ability and tech to close your bid within that target time. we request you to have a glance at our Private Message. we would be glad to know that you have considered our request. we thank you for sparing the time with us.
Hi, Looking into your requirement I can provide this within half day. Let me answer your questions
ans 1: Yes, file name can be any random number can be searchable....
ans 2: Obvious there are lots of way to encrypt data. Depends upon your need you can encrypt and any level and at any place i.e. in oracle or apache or html
and 3: Password protection is also possible at some extends..
My inputs ( if you consider)
1) If you are not allowed to give oracle username/password to other you can ask your friend to give username/passwrd with read only right. You they do not knw I can help
2) Injecting HTML generation code in current scheduler is not good way , you should create new job so it wan be control as per your need.
3) you can store your query output in oracle table itself so it can be encrypt, decrypt and backedup easily with lot of oracle security functions.... It is easy to manage rather then files...
Open for any discussion...

Raj
