We are in the process of developing Online Shopping Portal with an interface to POS (to be run on Android tab) for a Brick and Mortar shop so that they can keep track of their inventory. For the POS on Android tab we are developing exactly same feature as your requirement to enable the retailer to register their SKUs for the online as well as Brick and Mortar store. We will scan the bar-code on Android tab, it will check on web server if the SKU exists, the details are shown else retailer can insert Name, Description, Photo (if any) MRP and Sale Price details and save – all in one go. We have designed it such that the retailer can enter these details only after logging in with password so that the bar-code data goes to the appropriate fields of the database for this retailer only.
