I have made a thermal simulation before for a shell and tube heat exchanger, in both 2D and 3D and in steady state and for transient mode. The results were so detailed and every inch was readable. But do you have the cad design for the heat exchanger you need or not, i hope you have it and it may need some few adjustments depending on which design software you used. I have also published a paper about CSP air heater, which integrated heat transfer from the sun, including all the other effects from the environment and the working fluid used. All of that was simulated in ANSYS 16.
