We are a nonprofit 501c that is in need of help. We work with families of veterans who have post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). We try to work it from two angles, first we work with the veteran to find a way to deal with the anger without taking it out of the family. Second we work with the families to help them deal with the veteran and the issues they are going to be facing. We try to find an activity to help the veteran manage their anger. For some it is metal work, for others it is auto repair, and for some it is just having a place to come and talk to others dealing with the same issues and not be judged. As for the families, we offer some of the same things we offer the veterans as far as activities. The children have a place that they are with others that are dealing with the same issue they deal with so they don’t feel alone. The spouses can speak with other spouses and peer counselors to help them figure out ways to deal with the veteran family member. Our problem is this; we have a piece of property that the founders paid for out of their pockets. We use it for what we can but we need a building in order to hold meetings and to operate when it’s cold. We are also running out of money to operate. We also need to train more peer counselors. We are working with about 20 veterans and their families right now and at the current rate of operation other have about another 3 or 4 months before we are out of funds. Please help if you can.
