EKI DOS program conversion to Subscriber Web Site

We have an Educational software package created in 1993 that runs on DOS (but can be run in Windows up to Windows Vista). It also runs well in DOSBox. The first goal of this job is to create a “lesson container” web site similar to the one shown in “[login to view URL]”. The home page of the web site would be similar to “[login to view URL]”. The selection made on the homepage would select the “lesson container” contents. The web site must be made accessible by subscription only. A system to add/edit subscribers must be created that will only be accessible to us (the site admin). Students’ quiz grades must be recorded, and the subscribers will need to be able to see a report of the grades of their students. See the attached “flow” diagrams for more information – these diagrams must be fully implemented. The technologies used for the database and server-side programming required for this is up to you; however open-source solutions are preferred. The project must convert / re-do all the lessons (except the approximately 98 [login to view URL] 1, [login to view URL] 2, and [login to view URL] 3 lessons which are being done by a 3rd party) in Flash so that they function and behave exactly as in the old version. The graphics and simple animations (based on 640x480) are to remain the same or better (this will significantly reduce the work load), and can be taken from the old application using screen-grabbing or whatever technique(s) you discover. Each Lesson (corresponding to separate folder names in the original software distribution), must be exportable as its own independent Flash “swf”. The DOS version uses the PC-speaker to create beeps and blips. These sounds must be recreated to sound similar. Since [login to view URL] 1,2,and 3 are being done by 3rd party, there remain only approximately 32 lessons to convert. (See [login to view URL]) Each lesson has 1-5 parts such as “Component Description” and “Laboratory Simulation”. Each part contains a number of “slides” or “next states”. Each “next state” add/changes some text, part of an image, and/or does a simple animation. (See screenshots) Some lessons include a “quiz” part. The first slide of every quiz asks the user to input a student ID. You must be able to display the “grade” for each quiz by summing up the correct answers just as is done the original software. Helpful note: In the demo application provided, enter a “student id” of “eki123” to access the quizzes. The project you deliver to us must include all source code and any media required for us extend and/or change the project using commercial Adobe software. Included with the completed project must be a written guarantee that “EKI” will hold copyright to all of this work and that you will not sell, give, or provide any of this content to another party. Included in the zip attachment is the DEMO version of the application. This will give you a good feel for the scope of the project. To run the demo application: (Does not include all modules – mostly only “EDL3” of [login to view URL] I) In Windows Vista or earlier, the zip file must be extract to the root of a drive. (The batch files only work that way). Then run the [login to view URL] file in X:\ekiprep\[login to view URL] (Where X is any drive letter). To run the demo application in DOSBOX: Extract the zip file to something like C:\tomount. Run DOSBox and type “mount c c:\tomount\” and hit enter. Now switch to the C drive by typing “C:”. The drive should now have an ekiprep folder. Change to that folder by typing “cd ekiprep”, and then run “[login to view URL]”.
