TITLE: Performance study of single cylinder C.I Parry engine by using the blends of Pongamia and Mahua Bio diesel.

The experiment were conducted on single cylinder water cooled four stroke parry diesel engine, by using diesel as base fuel .Four blends of 20%,40%,60% and 80% mahua with diesel and is similar to the pongamia blends also. The parameters used are brake power, total fuel consumption, specific fuel consumption, mechanical efficiency, thermal efficiency.
Due to scarcity of traditional fuels, its over-dependence by nations, increasing emission of combustion generated pollutants and their increasing costs have made renewable energy sources more attractive. So to cope with these problems, alternative energy is said to be the best solution and hence lot of research is being carried out in this field.
Biodiesel refers to vegetable oil or animal fat based long chain alkyl (methyl,propyl,ethyl)esters.
It is an alternative to traditional diesel fuel , it is bio degradable ,renewable , nontoxic and essentially free of sulphur and anomatics .
