Global Lingo looking for transcribers in the US

Global Lingo is expanding its freelance US writer database in response to a significant increase in demand for transcription services. If you speak English at an idiomatic level and looking for part-time or impromptu work that can fit alongside your responsibilities as a homemaker, student, part-time or shift worker we have projects to match your skill-set, competencies and availability. Preferably, Global Lingo freelance writers: - Speak English at an idiomatic level - Are able to understand global accents - Have some experience of general Corporate terminology (although not mandatory) - Have a University Degree (although not mandatory as experience is a factor) - Can respect project deadlines - Have internet access The WORK CYCLE for a typical project is as follows: - You will be contacted by a member of our project team to inquire whether you can accept an audio file. - You will be given a deadline for completion of the transcript, together with all project details. - You respond that you can take the full project or a part of it - Provided you can meet the deadline you are free to work on the transcript at a time (day or night) that fits with your schedule - You transcribe the audio recording and send it to the PM within the agreed deadline EXPECTATIONS: • Turnaround time expectations: we would usually allow at least an hour per 10 minutes of transcription, and eight hours for 60 minutes. If you are completely new to this, we would try to give longer deadlines (for example, 20-30 minutes of transcription in four or five hours, or 40 minutes for an overnight deadline), just in case it takes you longer to get used to the style guides and so on. • Payment and work speed: the amount to be paid for each project is calculated as follows – your per audio minute agreed rate with VM team multiplied by the numbers of audio minutes you get to transcribe. Please note that if you are new to transcription, at first assignments may take you longer to complete until you get more efficient. • SUGGESTION: so that you work faster and more efficiently, we recommend looking into purchasing ExpressScribe or a similar software and a pair of noise cancelling earphones.
