Creative Writing
Whenever one thinks of an ancient African king, the first thing that comes to mind is barbarism, ruthlessness, power hungry, and authoritative. Such absolutist thinking was not uncommon among African Kings like Shaka Zulu, Samori Toure, and Nyatsimba Mutota. This perception is further cemented by the cropping up of post colonial dictators such as General Idi Amin, Jean Bedel Bokassa, Robert Mugabe, and Mengistu Haille Mariam, among others. However, contrary to these perceptions, pre-colonial African Leaders adapted to their environment and managed to acquire the right tools to develop their Kingdoms and manipulate their circumstances in much the same way as many distinguished political leaders of the west, the oriental, and the continental Europe. A proper study of any such African leader should, therefore, continue from the viewpoint of the laws of power, the requirements of a leader and the nature of humanity which has never shown any sign of complete reversal or revolution, regardless of the kind of thinking any civilization or community develops.
For someone to write an Essay on any African Leader, the African story must therefore begin by the description of the nature of Man, and the African situation before involving any creative links that linguistic terminologies might have to the specific personality traits and personality of the African “Tyrant”. It is also noteworthy stating the specific intention of the author since much of Essay content is determined by the mood, feelings and intentions of the writer. However, this should not be construed to imply that the proper procedure or the instructions on the type of Essay do not matter. Quite the opposite, they count for every little choice someone makes concerning any kind of Essay. It can therefore be concluded that for someone to write Essay on any topic, like on any African Leader, the formal procedure as well as the different perceptions or world view of the writer shall in one way or the other influence the quality of product that comes out in the end.
In conclusion, I should agree with the basic argument that for someone to write Essay on any specific issue a complete understanding of the background of the topic is of necessity. Equally significant is the intention of the piece of writing which calls upon the author to understand the needs and impressions of the audience. In the end, therefore, for someone to write essay, there has to be a link between the writer, the subject and the audience. Now, back to my African story, the most salient factor when discussing Shaka Zulu would be his background and his subsequent mission in life and this should precede any analysis of the mfecane wars. For someone to write a fulfilling story on Shaka, the Zulu King, he has to be known as Shaka before the Zulu name is attached to his nomenclature.
