A very cool idea. I can do this for you. Let me know if I got this correct. Your lower graph will result into a wave form with gaps. correct? Do you intend to allow overlapping of the bars in the lower graph. If i take an audio file and create the lower graph from it there will certainly be lots of overlayed frequencies. Let me know how you want this resolved. Some ideas out of the sudden are: Just take the strongest frequency or a weighted average, or allow a certain maximum amount of overlaps. For a regular sound file you'll maybe need to add some window size as well. Depending on those questions the challenge of your project may vary a lot. No matter whats the final requirement I can do it, so let's talk about it.
