Web & Graphic Designer

I've worked as a freelance graphic and web designer since 2007. My career began in Toronto, thereafter I moved to Ottawa and most recently I've moved to Nairobi, Kenya and have started a small web and graphic design company. My approach to graphic and web design can be summed up in one word; 'simplicity.' A sample book cover for a book named 'smile'. Though the idea of using a montage of people's smiles was slightly cliche it was extremely effective and so was chosen as the final design.

This is a sample book cover for a dramatic novel. Overlaying an image of a detached eye placed on a background of a hillside scene it was possible to create a dramatic effect. The color scheme was then chosen to add extra 'punch' to the image.

The L-Scene would be a website that deals with local celebrity information in Nairobi, Kenya. A picture of the city center skyline was used as the background then it was overlaid a gradient that incorporated the countries' national colors. After that pictures of local celebrities were added then the whole picture was made to look as if it were a post-card above a table.

The Corporate Car rental logo was kept extremely simple with only particularly unique part being that the wheels were replaced with C's. This was important as logos are to be reproduced many times on many different kinds of materials. Therefore if the design was complicated or required special printing surfaces to complement it then it would be impossible for it to be replicated numerous times.

The Strand Ballroom would be a venue that evokes a vibe of opulence and so the design for this poster was kept simple yet striking. The background image of the Eiffel tower was overlaid onto a purple background. Thereafter I added the stars to the top of the picture and the fireworks to the bottom. The pictures of the venue were encased in balloon frames reminiscent of balloons that are usually set off at New Years celebrations.

For a restaurant opening some pictures of what is to be expected at the restaurant are important therefore after re-sizing the pictures I placed them in oval borders. Thereafter in keeping with the Japanese theme I used a ukiyo-e picture as the background and overlaid it on a gradient that went from magenta to cyan.
