THE NAME
Poor [login to view URL] was formed in September 2006, but the idea for our company begins much earlier. While studying at Shepherd University - Andrew Jackson met Richard Keplinger. They formed a tight friendship, and were Brothers in Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Fraternity. As a fundraising effort they planned, and built the Jefferson County Small Business Development website.
Richard arranged meetings with the client. Andrew hammered out HTML code and graphics. Huddled around a small screen in an attic apartment they put the finishing touches on the project. A copyright line for the website was missing!
Since we were two poor college students, both with Irish heritage (or so it's said!) - we took a cue from Richard's bright red hair. Inspiration struck and the name Poor Irishman was born.
THE EXPERIENCE
World Wide Web pages were first published in early-1990. Before that time, Andrew was already active in the online community. Experience as member of several local Bulletin Board Systems(BBS), host of collaborative email writing projects, and early explorer of internet services Prodigy, AOL, Sierra Network, and more. Andrew was a budding programmer, and computer hardware/software trouble-shooter before his teens. Andrew credits the influence of Atari and the Nintendo Entertainment System for encouraging his... talents.
THE DIRECTION
Poor [login to view URL] aims to serve small businesses, non-profits, organizations, and individuals taking their first steps onto the internet. By providing professional website design at an affordable rate we hope to encourage many more people to enter the digital domain. The internet marketing service offered was built on experience we've gained - and we intend to share that knowledge with clients. There are exciting improvements to the internet everyday! Poor [login to view URL] wants to ensure no one is left behind, and everyone has the opportunity to join the revolution.
