I have been engaged in international trade and export in China for 13 years. I used to be purchaser in the branch of foreign company in Shanghai, and later became oversea sales manager in the factory in China. Some customers that I served are IKEA, Costco, LIDL, Bunnings etc, and many kinds of brand companies. The products that I in charged with include outdoor furniture, AC & DC hand tools, fabrics, bags and personal care appliance.
In the past 13 years, I have been focusing on the foreign trade industry, and obtain abundant experience and skills through a comprehensive learning and hard work on different positions:
1. Data management and analysis
Enter data into system, do analyze and submit report, this is a basic skill for any department, no matter purchase or sales. The software that we use include SAP, ERP etc. Each company has its choice of software for management, while these software are interlinked, and their purpose is to store the date of order, delivery, shipment status, sales, inventory and other information.
2. Sourcing and Procurement
as one of the key positions in trading and exporting, procurement occupies large part of my career, and helps me to accumulate many kinds of resources include suppliers. Meanwhile, as various of E-commerce platform rapidly developed, more information about suppliers in the industrial cluster area can be obtained faster. It helps me to do a better job in visiting suppliers, learning and filtering products. During long time communication and negotiation with suppliers, I know it very well in the characteristics of the suppliers in different regions, and found my way to win better price, payment term, after-sale service etc.
3. Sales
This is what I've been doing for the latest five years. I believe that anyone who did a job as sales would understand that this position is the integration and promotion of all work skills. A real salesman should participate in the whole process of product development, production, transportation and after-sales service. Each process would affect cost and customer experience. The experience of procurement makes me clear of the cost and construction of the product, combine with the research of aimed market, and the knowledge of customer demand, I can exactly find the value of the products to customers, and link the customer demand with proper products. I have the knowledge of how to use E-commerce platforms like alibaba, Amazon, DHgate etc.
