Supercharged Reports: Accelerating Data Retrieval
Our team recently undertook an exciting project focused on optimizing the speed of reports by developing an admin interface and a report engine in Python using Flask. The backend was designed to pull data from an MSSQL server and efficiently store the extracted data in MySQL. The primary objective was to enhance the performance of the reports, as some of them were taking as long as 30 minutes to load. Through meticulous analysis and optimization techniques, we successfully improved the loading time to less than a minute for these reports. With the power of Python and Flask, we developed a robust and user-friendly admin interface that provided seamless data extraction from the MSSQL server. The extracted data was then stored in MySQL, ensuring efficient data management and retrieval. Through careful optimization of the report engine, we identified bottlenecks, streamlined queries, and implemented caching mechanisms to significantly improve the speed and responsiveness of the reports.
