Cust and the Mid-West: 2013 Census and Business Demographics
This paper presents statistics from both 2006 and 2013 Census results and Statistics New Zealand’s Business Demographics regarding the Cust/mid-west area of the Waimakariri District. Some statistics from the 2001 Census have also been included where relevant. The information is used to present a snapshot of the area’s population in terms of growth, characteristics, workforce participation and business activities. The Cust/mid-west area is the area east of Carleton Road and west of Kennedy’s Hill Road and Two Chain Road, bordered by the Waimakariri River to the south and the Ashley River and Boundary Road to the north. Tables and graphs were compiled using the Statistics New Zealand Website and other Census datasets that had been made available to the Waimakariri District Council. The results provide a comprehensive picture of the Cust/mid-west as it continues to grow and change with the rest of the District.
