Hi,
I need a VBScript (MUST be VBScript) for Outlook 2010 that can:
1. Enumerate all Emails in a folder Inbox\Folders\ForSorting
2. Read the Subject of each Email
3. Move the email to a Sub-Folder based on the Subject or
4. Create the Sub-Folder (for Step 3) and then move the email to the newly created Sub-Folder
5. Write a text report listing every email that was moved (Sender, Date/Time of email), to which folder it was moved, and list of exceptions at the top of the report
Relocation rules:
1. Subject match against set text:
eg ABC.123, ABC.123.123 or DEF.4567 or DEF.GH.123 (about 20 possible combinations)
2. Look at first 3 characters
3. Connect to sub-folder Inbox\Folders\ABC or DEF (this will already exist)
4. Look for alpha characters after first 3 (eg "GH" in [login to view URL])
5. Connect to sub-folder Inbox\Folders\DEF\GH if applicable (this will already exist)
6. Move email to sub-folder DEF.GH.123 (or create if it doesn't exist, then move)
7. If subject only contains three alpha at start (eg ABC.123)
8. Connect to sub-folder Inbox\Folders\ABC\Orders (this will already exist)
9. Move email to sub-folder ABC.123.123 (or create if it doesn't exist, then move)
Exception handling:
1. Subject line will contain lots of words, but will always have something in format described above
2. If more than one reference exists (eg ABC.123 and ABC.456) then leave email in "ForSorting" folder and include this in the text report
3. If incomplete reference exists or more than one reference (eg ABC.123 / 456 or ABC.123 and .456 or ABC.123/456), then same as Step 2
4. If email does not contain any reference then same as Step 2
NB: I am a novice VBScripter .. this is deceptively tricky due to the need to connect to many layers of Sub-Folders. I've decided to Freelance this to speed up the process rather than spend hours researching this myself.
I will provide more context and background to the successful freelancer.
