In Prestashop 1.7.2 there is module called Faceted Search. This module allows to filter the catalogue by Category, Product Specifications, Attributes, Features.
However, in some business activities, it is crucial to have more than this data linked to a single product, such as a compatibility list.
Unfortunately, Prestashop does not have the option to input a device compatibility list and bound what devices work with one product.
Lets have a practical example.
I sell batteries and for each product I want to be able to bound several compatible cars. The battery XPT01 manufactured by the brand Duracel has all its details, features, attributes, and so on. This battery works on Peugeot 307, Peugeot 207, Mercedes SLS, Mercedes CLA, Opel Corsa D, Opel Corsa E, and many others....
How to make the search easy for the customer? Add these options to the Faceted Search.
This project consists in adding 3 new filter options to the Faceted Search:
Text (text field)
Maker Name (Dropdown List)
Maker Device (Dropdown List)
When installing the module must create 3 additional tables:
Compatible List Maker Name (MakerID, Name)
Compatible List Maker Device (DeviceID, MakerID, Name)
Compatible List Products (DeviceID, ProductID)
FrontOffice:
In the Faceted Search make available the 3 new filter options, in BackOffice add these 3 new options to the Faceted Search configuration.
