Please find below a simplified outline of our requirement for an integrated portal for our new business.

We are looking for a suitable technology partner who has the skills, experience and resources to "add value" in the design and delivery of this initial project. (Additional, similar projects are also required in the near future – we are looking to build a solid long term relationship with the chosen partner)

REQUIREMENT:

To create an integrated portal (a single logical location for all business needs for all users), for our business community (customers), resellers and our support & management team.

We want to use open source applications to provide the portal functionality. We want to restrict the amount of any bespoke code required and use, where possible, just core application or standard (commercial or community) models and standard API’is for all required functionality and integrations.

Proposed Portal Application Stack:

CMS – Joomla (Ver 1.6x)

Community – JomSocial (Ver 2.x)

eShop – VirtueMart (latest Ver with support for Joomla 1.6)

LMS – Moodle (Ver 2.x)

Support – OTRS/ITSM (Ver 3.x)

Management & Reporting (Developed for us by 3rd party)

CRM - based on SugarCRM (commercial, open source)

Use of alternative (Open Source, Open Standard) applications is possible (apart from CRM) – but we will need to be convinced that there is a good reason to use an alternative application and that it has significant advantages.

(At least) Four types of integration are required:

1) Single Sign-On (using LDAP authentication)

2) Single domain architecture

3) Consistent graphical user interface (using application templates you will create).

4) Consistent navigation between applications

NOTES:

Portal launch planned for late December 2010

Usage – support 500 concurrent users

All applications support LDAP for authentication

Work on brand and graphical design will be completed in 5 days (little or no original graphical design required. We will provide all required graphical designs (logo, colours, fonts, graphics, icons and content etc)

Portal GUI (i.e. Templates) for all Portal Application should be “as consistent as possible”

Each application will be managed and content updated separately

Moodle application configuration and course development is being managed as a separate project

We will provide suitable application hosting facilities for production use

Portal Design must encompass:

Navigation (within and between applications)

Multilingual support (only English required on launch)

Security configuration & optimization

Scale/performance configuration & optimization

SEO

Web Stats

Key technology partner requirement (must have Demonstrable Skill and Experience) in:

1) In the above listed open source server applications (LAMP, Ajax etc)

2) LDAP

3) Security and performance tuning of portal applications

4) Customer references demonstrating similar integration projects

We want to manage the project in six distinct phases:

1) Requirement definition

2) Portal design & project plan

3) Portal build

4) Test and bug fix (including security and performance)

5) Handover to our support and management team (documentation and skills transfer)

6) Support (6 months)

All payments will be made through freelancer.com

Technology partner must:

1) Provide good, regular communication in English and use Skype (for Voice calls) as well as email, chat etc.

2) Use a defined formal processes throughout project

3) Deliver to agreed plan

4) Be able to start (and finish) ASAP
