We have an online marketplace (built using PHP Smarty as the framework) where people can set-up their own stores and sell their products. We need the stores to be able to pay to promote their stores and products.
We use PayPal as our payment system, so the simplest process we imagine is to create the "Featured Store" and "Featured Items" as PayPal products and allowing the stores to purchase these upgrades through their admin section. This is how we imagine the process working.
Featured Store
In the users account panel, they have an option to "Promote Store".
By clicking "Promote Store", the customer will go to the Featured Store Product page, there they will select how many weeks from a custom option drop down (along with a start date), then the total price updates and they will add the product to the cart and proceed to PayPal checkout.
They will complete the payment through PayPal and be diverted back to the website, then they will upload the image and text they want to use and submit.
Confirmation will be sent to marketplace admin with the image, text and the start/end dates.
Featured Items
In the users account panel, they have an option to "Promote Items".
After clicking "Promote Items", they will go to a page where they will see a list of all their created Items in a grid along with a week drop-down and a start date in each row,
Once they select their Items those they want to promote along with a number of weeks and start date, then they will be given an option to add those selected Items to the cart.
After adding these Items to the cart they can pay for these items through PayPal.
Once they complete the payment and are diverted back to the website, a confirmation is sent to admin.
When the start date occurs, the chosen item(s) are then marked in the database to show first.
