Research: Cost to create a MMORPG (Like World of Warcraft)

My company is throwing around the idea of creating a MMORPG, similar to World of Warcraft. We aren't too familiar with gaming, so we are looking at rough costs of making such a game. It wouldn't need to be nearly as big as WOW but a similar type of game. Also, the main steps involved in creating a game.
