This is an optimization project for one page on our website, the homepage. Will require solid knowledge of CSS, Java, HTML and Flash. Currently, our homepage, with images, scripts and all other elements is 220Kb. Load times are fast and efficient with Netscape and Firefox, but we have hang time of 10 - 20 seconds for IE, even with DSL or Cable connections. We need to optimize the initial load time to deliver our homepage in under 10 seconds to DSL/Cable customers, and speed up delivery to customers under 56Kb connections. We understand that there is an upload time involved, but we are looking for a way to present the upper portion of the website immediately upon entering, and having the lower, less important parts of the homepage load second. If possible, we would like to model load sequence similar to [url removed, login to view] , which has an equally large website. We are up for any approach (image load order scripts, php server side scripting, feeds, whatever), however, the page must remain spiderable by search engines, as we need to preserve our current rankings with yahoo/google/etc. We realize development time is up in the air on something like this and that it can take from 5 - 15 hours to complete. We can pay flat rate or hourly, based on an initial estimate.
## Deliverables
We would prefer it if the programmer delivered the homepage and installed it directly on our server. Again, this is a one page project, so there is nothing else to deliver except a working, rapid loading homepage. Prior to accepting delivery, we will have to verify the spiderability of the homepage with third party verification software such as ([url removed, login to view]) . We must be sure that the major search engines can still read page content and links leaving this page.
Final delivery of homepage must be cross-browser compatible with IE, Firefox, Netscape.
