Drop Down Menus - Nested Data

I have a SQL db with 'nested data' itemid, parentitemid setup.

I require a small file size, cross-browser compatible drop-down menu, which is able to recursively generate unlimited 'levels' by utilising the data. This is to be written in Javascript and Coldfusion. The column names should be easily changed to represent the database set up. e.g. itemid. parentitemid, categoryname. or id, parent, categorytitle. The href link should also be easily altered and will require variables appending to it from the same table e.g. itemid and/or categoryname.

Positioning,colour, size and font should also be easily adjusted as global variables.
