We are designing our next home in Sweden and looking for a house design utilizing the site and optimizing the view while respecting the existing buildings as well as meeting all our needs, needs specified here in this document as well as the ones we didn’t know we had, we rely on your expertize here.
We are four in our immediate family but our sons is moving out and then we are only two adult, and a cat, that is to be living in the house. We want comfortable living in a nicely designed house with the possibility of hosting dinners with friends, have guests sleep over as well as having our sons moving back home if they feel like it.
About the contest
Before we commit to a design we are looking for ideas on the general design of our house. I suspect that we will need floorplan/plans and façades and maybe a section or two. Just supplying a SketchUp or Revit model is ok. Whatever is needed for you to convey your design to us. We are not looking for detailed drawings at this stage but more of a conceptual sketch of the house. The concept must be realistic though adhering to the rules in the zoning plan, described below, using structure thicknesses as described below, if there are stairs they need to be long enough etc.
I will not answer questions that are answered in the supplied material!
I will respond to all questions and if I make more materials available it will be added to the project for everyone’s benefit.
We will rate entries as they come in and the winner is the first to receive 5 stars. Getting a lower rating doesn't mean you're excluded it just means I'm not totally satisfied with the entry and changes can be made so that you get a higher rating. However, getting a rating of 1 means that there is nothing in the design that appeals to us and it is a waste of time to continue with that particular design.
The winner may be appointed to do a detailed drawing which will be my next step. A new project/contest may be created for that when I have the right idea.
Our ideas
Hour property is in Sweden where the sun rises in the East and sets in the West. So, most of the sunlight and heat will come from the South during the day and from the West in the evenings when we would make most use of it by use of a patio area. The sun disappears behind the houses across the street in W-SW as it sets.

We think that the house is likely to be a single story house with a rental apartment in a partial basement towards the south east. We think that the entry will be slightly higher than the road level to avoid blasting any rock along the northern edge and any basement should be placed towards the SE-SV because in that direction it is only dirt to remove and the only direction with any view of value is to the SE.

Hi, thank you for all the work you have done. We have received 41 designs and there are 5 entries that stand out but there is no design that is perfect so far. We have therefor decided to extend the contest 5 days to allow for at least one more revision round. The top 5 contenders which we think are potential winners have received written feedback on their designs.

Is it alright I have a combination of 0" pitch roofs and roofs that have a pitch.( I usually design modern houses in warmer climates where there is no concern over snow load. )
