I started a website, StoryBrancher.com, as a place to post and share about lost loved ones, ancestors, and personally meaningful places (i.e., family home, a favorite restaurant that used to exist, etc.).
The inspiration for the website came from the desire to share and build upon my understanding of my grandfather that passed away in 2004. Although I can't build new memories with him, I can at least learn more about him by having a place for my friends and family to share objective information in the article about him (i.e., date of birth, profession, and other factual information) as well as more personal experiences through postings I call "Branches" that are tied to the main article (more subjective and focused on particular one-on-one experiences). To see my grandfather's articles and the branches about him (at the bottom of the page on his article), follow search for Frank Cantrell on StoryBrancher.
The ultimate goal is for StoryBrancher to be a place where people go to share and learn more about their past--their lost loved ones, ancestors, and special places they cherish. To do this, however, I need to build content and spread awareness. That's why I'm creating this contest.
The person that creates the most articles on any of the topics above--lost loved ones, ancestors, and personally significant places--will be awarded the $100 prize.
Requirements for Articles:
-The articles must be at least 400 words or more
-Articles must be objective (factual information--think Wikipedia) (Branches are where subjective, more personal accounts go)
-Quality counts--make sure that the articles have enough information for others to find useful (if an article is rejected, I will let you know why)
Request:
-I would suggest that you enlist the help of friends and family to create articles and branches. These posts would count towards your total articles for the contest (in addition to providing a venue for your own friends and family to share and learn more about the past through the various pieces of the puzzles that they hold). To get credit, email info@storybrancher.com with your Freelancer name and then the names of the people that you invited to StoryBrancher. Please keep in mind that all posts must be made by the end of the contest to count.
Important Notes:
-After you sign up on StoryBrancher, make sure to check the spam folder of the email address you used. Some people have reported that emails from StoryBrancher ended up in their spam folders.
-Before the contest ends, make sure to submit the links to all the articles you created (or your invitees created) on this freelancer contest page (this will be verified by me on the back end on the StoryBrancher website)
