I graduated from Alexandria University Faculty of Engineering which is considered on of the most famous and prestigious Universities in Egypt, specifically Computer and Systems Engineering department.
My graduation project was a GPS car navigation system, me and my team have done great effort in designing efficient algorithms for map matching, finding the shortest path between two points on a graph and converting the map to graph to deal with for large datasets and maps, implementing it on handheld devices gave us experience in dealing with limited storage and how to utilize it and also how to implement some functionality that are not mature enough in handhelds operating systems.
I started my professional career from when I was at college, first I had the chance to get two successive internships in 2 years at Unilever IT Department, where I worked on their main sales force automation system based on mobiles, where I know the meaning of real time systems and how to utilize the use of embedded systems resources to be responsive for the user and produce good quality products, than starting a startup while I was undergraduate I initiated the idea and started it with my colleagues, getting involved in market needs and understand the customers view for software systems, and how to make use of technology to make people life easier.
Then after graduation I worked for a year in Bibliotheca Alexandrina in the Internet Archive([login to view URL]) specifically, the second and only mirror for San Francisco([login to view URL])Internet Archive, the Internet archive is a snapshot of all web pages starting from 1996 till now, working there gave me a good experience in working with large cluster of computers and how to make use of them and trying to distribute the work on them it was a living example on distributed systems and also working on a Linux environment was much fun. Then moving to Unilever again after a year to present to continue working on embedded systems.
