I want to help preserve the memory of letter writing. The old fashion way of communicating. The one thing that I know is that receiving a letter in the mail still makes people smile. Doesn’t matter who you are young old, rich or poor. A letter is a letter is a letter. The truth is there are many reasons why it is important to maintain this art. There is nothing like a real letter, someone has taken the time to put a writing utensil to paper whether it be a pen, crayon, pencil, marker or it be typewritten. I personally can not send a letter without having a sticker on it especially if it is a plain white envelope. (You all know what I am talking about). It is about knowing someone remember you, took the time and sent a letter or card just because. I received valentines and day card, and birthday cards. They might not seem like a big deal, but if you have one waiting for you in your letterbox (mailbox) it is that moment you don’t know who sent it, you don’t know what information it contains, but it is addressed to you, no one else but you. I The truth is that letter writing is a relationship between people. It is unique you have never actually heard their voice, or saw them in person, but it is an important relationship none the less. The pen pal that I hadn’t heard from in a long while wrote me and told me that she had thanked me in her thesis, for my friendship. That meant a lot to me. It really made me understand that others feel the same way I do. That getting my letters means something to them, like their letters mean to me. This letter is an open letter to all those whom I lovingly call snailers to hop on board the book of the unwritten world of letterwriting. I don’t know if this book will ever be published or if anyone will even help in creating this masterpiece. spread the word through out the letter writing world. Your experiences are needed. It is important for the future of letter writing to embrace the true reality of the power of the pen.
