OBJECTIVE
I am a student at the Number 1-ranked University of Virginia seeking employment in the business sector, specifically in the IT and high-tech industries and with businesses that operate on an international level. I have extensive experience with database management, web and computer programming (including HTML, Java, C++, Visual Basic, and formats relating to the .NET platform), and project administration. My work at Lexis Nexis revolved around the creation of programs in Visual Basic, Java, JavaScript, and PHP to update legal references and load them into several different databases. I also have significant experience with web design (including HTML, JavaScript, PHP, ASP, XML, and MySQL), as I have created several database-intensive sites for the University of Virginia Judicial Council ([login to view URL]) and a professional photographer ([login to view URL]). My communication skills are also highly developed as I have been in sales for over two years, working several major retailers including Circuit City and Best Buy. Additionally, I am exceptionally proficient in Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese (and I’m currently learning Arabic and French), having conducted business in all three languages. Academically speaking, I have a stellar record. I graduated at the top of my class in high school, receiving an Advanced Diploma. I am currently in the top 10% of my class at UVA and am on the Dean’s List for the fourth straight semester. Currently I am studying International Relations, Foreign Languages, and Computer Technology. I plan to attend graduate school with hopes of earning a law degree and an MBA. Working with a high-tech or IT corporation with international business is a desire of mine, as it would efficiently combine all of my talents.

EXPERIENCE
Web Designer, Ann Wade Parrish Photography, Charlottesville VA, 2004
I designed a gallery-based website for Ann Wade Parrish professional photography, located in Birmingham, AL. Several different picture galleries are integrated into the site. The picture data is stored in XML format and PHP is used to parse the XML and consequently display the pictures. The galleries are fully functional, incorporating both thumbnails and slide shows. A JavaScript program is used to prevent visitors from right-clicking on any of the pictures, thus protecting the photographer’s work. ([login to view URL])
Web Designer, Database Programmer, University of Virginia Judicial Committee, Charlottesville, VA 2004 2004
This site is the main portal for members of the UVa community to learn more about the school’s Judicial Committee, trial procedures, and to contact any of the council’s members. The site is divided up into several content-based sections to provide this information. It also serves as a tool for the members of the Committee, utilizing a MySQL database and PHP, to allow members to research and update cases, and communicate with each other. This extensive database-driven site schedules members to all of the cases the Committtee deals with, and uses email to update members on both this scheduling and changes to cases.

Programmer, Lexis Nexis, Charlottesville, VA, 2003-2004
This job required the development of an extensive array of programs developed in Visual Basic, Java, JavaScript, and PHP to store and update legal references in the XML data format. The XML data was then transferred to Lexis’s databases and subsequently published on their legal research website. I created a main web portal to access all of the programs that I had written so that the legal staff could create, search, and update the legal references of specific state codes.
