Finite Element Analysis on All-Terrain Vehicle Roll Cage
Roll cage The roll-cage can be called as skeleton of a vehicle, besides its purpose being seating the driver, providing safety and incorporating other sub-systems of the vehicle, roll-cage has to be designed keeping in view the safety and aesthetics. Roll -cage main function to deal with static and dynamic loads , without undue deflection or distortion sudden impacts from collisions . Roll –cage was designed in such a way that it should withstand driver weight, bumps loads, engine and transmission load. Roll cage increases the amount of rigidity of the chassis. Sofware used : Solid works , Ansys APDL Side impact test on the Roll cage of an All terrain vehicle. Maximum Equivalent stress obtained is 128 MPA. Material Used : AISI 1018 Cross-section : Different cross-sections
