Book: UNESCO’s Memory of the World

Published by The Times Books, D-Day: The Story of D-Day through Maps uses a combination of detailed historical maps and photos to tell the planning and execution of the D-Day lands and continues to through to the fall of Berlin and the end of the European theatre of World War Two.

This features a typical chapter opening spread and then two inside chapter spreads. The page design and layout used InDesign, and the maps and photos were highly edited and cleaned up using Photoshop.

Map / Photo Book: The Times Books - D-Day

Published by The Times Books, Exploring Britain's Lost Railways details the history of Britain's disused railways and how they've been converted to other uses.

These samples show typical section openers with a main photo and introductory text, with a map of the rail line; also typical inside spreads with past and present photos of each rail line.

Images were edited in Photoshop and layout and typesetting was done using InDesign.

Map Book: The Times Books Exploring Britain's Lost Railways

This HarperCollins book maps out the history of the Tour De France starting from the first tour up to 2013. Each spread is dedicated to a different year, with a main photo, with a column of icons explaining the key features, and a short summery of that year's tour. A full page page on the right shows the rout. Layout done in InDesign, with icons edited in Illustrator and images edited in Photoshop.

I was very satisfied with the work done by Michael. He had bid on a project that I allowed to expire due to lack of time to follow up. When I contacted him afterwards, he replied quickly and stated he would be able to fit my project into his workflow based on my stated parameters and he was able to do this. He asked all the right questions to clear up any possible confusion on his part. He also (gently) pushed back early on due to some lack of clarity and changes on my part, which is appropriate and keeps the project on schedule and within scope. This indicated that he had the ability to manage his own workflow and provide feedback which, again, helps keep things on schedule and within scope. The work met the deadline and exceeded my expectations. Will hire again.
