I completed many advanced math courses like Calculus I, II, and III, and Symbolic Logic & Set Theory at Augusta State University before there existed tracks such as Computer Information Systems which I was far more suited for; however, I learned a great deal including I could ever be intimidated by mathematics. I completed what I call "three levels of Calculus" and stopped at Differential Equations which was the last Mathematics course before the BS in Computer Science would be awarded. Additionally, approximately two CSC (programming) classes remained before Augusta College could issue me a BS in Computer Science (with the automatic minor in Mathematics). My test scores such as a 26 on the ACT (in 1993 Augusta College received the ACT not the SAT) as well as my academic history indicated an above average ability in language arts which would have strongly suggested an arts track like business or even sociology. However, I had been programming computers in school in Glendale, AZ since 6th grade (approx. 1984) and my major: Computer Science, had been decided for a very long time. Additionally my historical academic profile in mathematics was not strong but in-spite of this I was able to complete all the math requirements stopping just short of the BS in Computer Sciences. SOME WORK HISTORY I constructed a very complex automated database in MS ACCESS involving complex predictive maintenance tracking algorithms which, after entering every piece of equipment in two new plants out here in Grovetown, GA, a mechanic could ask for a report of all the equipment and systems and would have maintenance that would "come due" given any time in the future including given a range of future dates. After I created this several line algorithm I realized that there was nothing I could not do (I worked on this system by myself as a contractor (Systems Specialist) to John Deere Commercial Systems which were two brand new multi100 million dollar facilities constructed by John Deere. This fulfilled a requirement for the maintenance departments providing preventive maintenance reports with incredible flexibility. The mechanic was able to update the IDs, dates, service intervals, new equipment, and choose to print a report with only one given (multiple choice) equipment category such as 'hoist' or 'pneumatic device'; this system made it possible for ISO900x certification. On the other hand I have assisted captains of industry fortune 100, V.P. C. Spencer Godfrey (Ret.) for the National Linen Service Midtown Atlanta by entering raw data printouts provided in large boxes provided by the data warehousing systems of National Linen Service the floor below National Service Industries. These figures were accurately entered into an MS EXCEL spreadsheet in order to assist in evaluating the increase in revenue due to a price increase on national accounts so that Mr. Godfrey could evaluate the bottom line of the price increase. This was a real joy because I worked at the desk outside of the Mr. Godfrey's office. I would print out the spreadsheet and he would give me advice, "How about a title like this", or "how about sorting the numbers this way". In other words, he created the art of the spreadsheet and I used my skills to produce it for him. In both cases I was contracted through Placement Agencies in Atlanta and Augusta. I enjoy project oriented work and have worked for placement agencies in the business district of San Francisco (Key Resources for Wells Fargo Commercial Loan Servicing Center) and Adecco in Alexandria, VA, (The National Helicopter Association among other clients). I have brought to bear novel approaches to many assignments which facilitated their accurate and ahead of schedule completion. My flare at applying computer assisted and novel automated approaches to projects has always impressed agency and client alike. I am adaptive, congenial, diplomatic, and a valuable asset to any team. I appreciate the individual who is able to evaluate the person I have become from my formal education and my professional experiences. I have held Government Security Clearances at both the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station near Phoenix, AZ and the Nuclear Reservation Savannah River Site (SRS) near Augusta, GA. My personality is such that maintaining confidentiality is automatic and this is partially why I have had great success entering foreign environments with sensitive information. I also booked national itineraries for Delta Air Lines as well as handled delayed baggage (and so know the rules). Thank you for your consideration, Mark Matthews
