I run a marketing firm which was started in 1996. We're stable, but growing quickly. Much often falls on my plate which is when I generally look for freelancers for overflow work. Often this will be rather last minute because that's when it's landed back on my plate of to-do items. Things I'm looking for in a great freelancers: 1) Dependable -- you do the job ON TIME every time, and exactly as promised and for the price you promised. 2) Reasonable -- I'm reasonable about my expectations. If I ask you to do more than I originally specified, I'll pay you more. IN RARE CASES...and you'll know that it is coming... if you don't do the job, or do less than the job required, don't expect me to pay you the full price for a job that was left incomplete. 3) Quality work -- I hate haphazard and/or shoddy work. So if you aren't a detailed guy/gal, or take on a project where you don't have the skills to do it...I'm probably not the person you want to work with. I need to trust that when I give you a project that I won't have to double check your work. 4) Great communication -- I don't expect perfect US English, but I do expect that you can understand me and that I can understand you in writing. Most of our communication will be via email or through the message board, so please make sure your skills are up to doing the job. :) I'm a very fair person...I pay you for a job and if you do it well, I often give bonuses and repeat business. I pay on-time, and expect that you delivery on time or ideally before the promised due date. If an emergency arises, please keep me in the communication loop. I can often adjust a schedule IF I am aware that there is something unexpected going on...but don't abuse that option! I'm also NOT a micro-manager. I hate it when people breathe down my neck so I won't do that to you. However, I do expect a progress update on lengthy projects or when you are asked for a quick status update. Keeping me in the loop can often help me adjust timelines or promises we make to our clients.
