No Tongue to Talk Nor Hands to Wash: The Violence of Speech in Revenge Tragedy
I wrote this dissertation on revenge tragedy's warping of speech through an observation of three texts in critical context- Middleton's "The Revenger's Tragedy", Shakespeare's "Titus Andronicus" and Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2". Through an observation of both the Early Modern and the PostModern revenge tragedy, I was able to conclude that speech is ultimately more important than the depicted violence on stage/screen.
