Principal consultant of computer forensic and IT security company. During this period I carried out hundreds of digital forensic examinations and IT security consulting engagements. I gave expert evidence in Court to present my findings. My work included a DevOps role where I developed digital forensic software (Linux/CentOS environment) used by the company and ran an extensive cluster of forensic processing systems. IT security work included carrying out penetration tests, etc.

Principal consultant with a focus on digital forensic examinations, IT security and DevOps responsibilities in a 100+ node forensic processing cluster (Linux/CentOS). Carried out academic research in computer forensics leading to the publication of a paper at the DFRWS conference and in the Digital Investigation journal. Co-authored New Zealand Law Society training courses on electronic discovery and computer forensics.

A second generation computer forensic analysis system

The architecture of existing – first generation – computer forensic tools, including the widely used EnCase and FTK products, is rapidly becoming outdated. Tools are not keeping pace with increased complexity and data volumes of modern investigations. This paper discuses the limitations of first generation computer forensic tools.
