This is a prototype Gradiometric magnetic anomaly detector based on a pair of commercial magneto-inductive sensors. The device can be used to measure differences in the earth magnetic field (magnetic anomalies), the value of magnetic anomaly can be viewed on the systems on board LCD or data can be sent via serial-USB connection to a portable computer such as net-book or tablet PC. The system is portable, has ~5.5 hours of battery life and has a sensitivity range of ± 70 micro Tesla; making it ideal for magnetic surveying area's of land. A software application was made to run on low power portable computers such as tablet PC's and net-books so that real time graphs of magnetic anomaly could be be made whilst a survey is taking place. This project is entirely my own work and was successful. You can see the magnetic survey results in this portfolio; the orange/red area represent high value of anomaly and the blue area's represent low values of anomaly.
