The certificate is given to successful candidates, who meet the requirements of the council through university degrees in marketing/advertising related disciplines and examinations designed by the council to test candidates knowledge in both the theoretical and practical aspects of advertising. However, more emphasis is placed on professional knowledge and application of principles to practice. An advertising practitioner with this certification is duly registered, recognised and has been inducted (which means the advertising practitioner has also take the oath of practice at the induction ceremony) by the council.
